From Katha – The government (slow) ferry leaves at around 8pm and arrives in Bhamo at around 3pm the following day. Tickets are $5 for general deck seating. There is also a more expensive fast ferry option.
From Myitkyina – Boats run, but access can be restricted in the dry season due to low water levels, and the security situation in parts of Kachin State means that access can be difficult for foreigners.
