Muse is a dusty border town in Shan State that is best known as being a major trade point with China – and one which is undergoing rapid development. On the Chinese side of the border is the city of Ruili (known as Shweli in Myanmar).
The Muse-Ruili border point is the only official over land crossing between China and Myanmar, though there are many unofficial points where for years black market trade has flourished; crossing here is currently restricted for foreigners. For more information go to arriving and departing over land.
