Getting To Myanmar

Yangon International Airport (sometimes call Yangon Mingaladon Airport) is the primary entry point for most travellers, although Mandalay International Airport offers an increasing number of connections. The capital, Nay Pyi Taw, also offers some direct international flights and as of February 2018, Myeik offers a Bangkok service.

Yangon connections

Yangon has a growing number of long-haul direct international flights; Bangkok, Kuala LumpurSingaporeDoha and Dubai are the hubs that most travellers from Europe, North America and Australia go through to get to Myanmar.

Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport is served by many major international airlines, and flights from there and from Bangkok Don Mueang Airport to Yangon are frequent, fast and cheap (if your flights mean you need to change airports in Bangkok, the journey between the two is one hour by free shuttle bus or taxi).

The Bangkok to Yangon flight time is around one hour and will typically cost between US$100 and $150 return (depending on time of year and when you book) with the budget airlines Air Asia or Nok Air. Other options include Myanmar National AirlinesMyanmar Airways International (MAI)Bangkok Airways and Thai Airways International.

Mandalay connections

Mandalay International Airport is served by an increasing number of direct international flights. Air Asia provides daily flights to Bangkok Don Mueang, whilst Thai SmileBangkok Airways and Myanmar Airways International fly to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi.
