Bus

There are regular daily buses to Yangon and the journey takes around 6 hours. Buses arrive in Yangon at Hlaing Thar Yar bus station (note that this is a different bus station to the one you would use for most other destinations in the country).

Boat

The IWT (Inland Water Transport) ferry leaves for Yangon daily (except Monday), arriving at Lanthit Jetty in Yangon. The journey takes around 11 hours.

There is also a day express ferry operated by Shwe Pyi Tan, which arrives at Phone Gyi Jetty in Yangon. Journey takes 6 hours (ticket price K12,000).
